Before you call, here are some questions to ask your customer:
- What are they using the material for?
- What appearance/species/grade do they want?
- How much/many do they need? (Use this table to convert sq. ft. to lineal feet.)
- What lengths can they use? Remember that more flexibility to take shorter lengths and odds = better availability and sometimes cheaper pricing. Do they have a cut list?
- Do they need to match an existing pattern exactly? “Close enough” saves money.
- Can they take a scant thickness? There’s often a nice savings if they can accept 5/8” thick paneling, for example, rather than a full ¾”.
